Man Charged in Stoke Newington Fatal Stabbing
Annabel Rook, a 46-year-old charity founder known for her work with refugees and victims of gender-based violence, was found stabbed to death in her Stoke Newington, north London home following a gas explosion on June 17. Her partner, Clifton George, 44, was arrested at the scene with slash wounds and has been charged with her murder and arson with intent to endanger life. Police and emergency services responded to the explosion, but Rook was pronounced dead at the scene, while two children were taken to hospital as a precaution and were unharmed. Authorities continue to treat the incident as domestic-related and are not seeking additional suspects. Rook's family and colleagues have paid tribute to her legacy and requested privacy. George has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on June 25.
