ITV's 'The Hack' Explores Phone-Hacking Scandal

ITV has announced a new drama series titled 'The Hack,' which explores the U.K.'s phone-hacking scandal involving Rupert Murdoch's News of the World. The seven-part series, written by award-winning screenwriter Jack Thorne, stars David Tennant as investigative journalist Nick Davies, who uncovered the scandal, and Robert Carlyle as Detective Dave Cook, investigating the unsolved murder of Daniel Morgan. Set between 2002 and 2012, the drama interweaves these real-life stories and features a star-studded cast, including Toby Jones as Alan Rusbridger, former editor-in-chief of The Guardian. The series aims to shed light on the complex layers of this scandal, which involved unethical practices such as tapping into the voicemails of celebrities and the royal family. This dramatization comes shortly after Rupert Murdoch's News Group Newspapers issued an apology and substantial damages to Prince Harry over phone-hacking claims.
