Kerala Blasters and Chennaiyin FC have announced their squads for the 2024 Durand Cup, which runs from July 27 to August 31. Kerala Blasters will compete in Group A against CISF Protectors FT, Punjab FC, and Mumbai City FC, and will wear black armbands during their first match to honor the victims of a recent natural disaster in Wayanad. Chennaiyin FC, on the other hand, will field a 22-member squad blending senior players and reserves, starting their campaign against the Indian Army at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. Both teams aim to improve on past performances, with Chennaiyin looking to advance beyond the quarter-finals achieved in the previous two years. The prestigious Durand Cup marks the beginning of the Indian domestic football season, featuring 24 teams, including all from the Indian Super League. The tournament is the oldest football club contest in Asia, first held 136 years ago.
