A series of earthquakes, with magnitudes ranging from 6.4 to 6.6, struck off the coast of British Columbia on Sunday. The main quake, reported by various sources as either 6.4, 6.5, or 6.6 in magnitude, occurred near Port McNeill and Haida Gwaii at a depth of 10 kilometers. Despite the significant tremors felt in surrounding areas, including northern Vancouver Island and the Haida Gwaii archipelago, no damage or tsunami threat was reported. Seismologist John Cassidy noted that while the region experiences frequent small quakes, larger events like this are less common. Aftershocks are expected in the coming days. Residents reported feeling the quake, but it was not strong enough to cause major concern.
