Warner Bros. Discovery, Cutting Edge Launch Joint Venture for Music Catalog Management

Warner Bros. Discovery has formed a joint venture with Cutting Edge Group to co-own its extensive catalog of film and TV music, which includes over 400,000 compositions spanning nearly 100 years. Warner Bros. will maintain creative and operational control while Cutting Edge will help manage the venture, marking one of the largest music rights deals in history. The catalog features music from iconic franchises such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, as well as popular TV shows like Friends and Game of Thrones. DWS Group is also involved as a co-investor in the transaction. The partnership aims to enhance the revenue potential of this vast music library while ensuring the integrity of the works is preserved. Paul Broucek of Warner Bros. Discovery emphasized the deal's significance in expanding access to their music library and finding innovative ways to engage new audiences.
