Sandrini Solar Energy Parks Begin Operations in California

EDP Renewables North America has launched the Sandrini I & II Solar Energy Parks in Kern County, California, with a combined capacity of 300 MW. The project consists of Sandrini I, a 200 MW facility with a 15-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy North America, and Sandrini II, a 100 MW installation contracted to Redwood Coast Energy Authority. Together, they are expected to power over 100,000 homes annually and significantly contribute to California's goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045. The projects have already generated over $510,000 in tax payments to local governments and will pay approximately $15 million to landowners leasing land for the solar infrastructure. During construction, more than 200 jobs were created, with several permanent positions anticipated. Additionally, Sandrini II will meet over a third of the annual electricity needs for RCEA's community choice energy program, enhancing local energy resources and supporting broader renewable energy initiatives.
