Nevada State Sen. Buck Announces 2026 Run Against Rep. Titus
Nevada State Sen. Carrie Buck, a Republican and education leader, has announced her campaign for Nevada's 1st Congressional District, currently held by Democratic Rep. Dina Titus. Buck, who flipped a Democratic state senate seat in 2020 and won re-election in 2024, aims to bring accountability and conservative values to Washington, aligning herself with President Trump’s agenda to lower taxes, create jobs, and restore law and order. The district has traditionally been a Democratic stronghold, with Titus serving since 2013 and winning recent elections by narrow margins. Buck emphasized her background as a teacher and charter school reform leader, criticizing "beltway Democrats" for tax hikes and being out of touch with Nevada families. The Republican primary field also includes former Assemblyman Jim Marchant, with the winner expected to face Titus, who won 52% of the vote in 2024. The Cook Political Report rates the 2026 race as "likely Democrat," but Republicans see an opportunity to flip the seat.
