Teen Driver Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-40, Stolen Vehicle Involved
A 17-year-old identified as Chance Lee Kimbro died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West near Spence Lane in Nashville. Kimbro was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion that had been reported stolen just hours earlier, and witnesses observed him traveling at high speed and erratically changing lanes before colliding with a semi-trailer. The car rolled multiple times, ejecting Kimbro onto the roadway, where he was then struck by another vehicle and killed at the scene. An unidentified passenger in the stolen vehicle fled before police arrived, attempting unsuccessfully to secure a ride from another motorist. Police found no evidence of drug or alcohol use contributing to the crash. The incident led to an extended closure of I-40 West as authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
