EF0 Tornado Hits Pico Rivera, Causes Damage
An EF0 tornado, the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita scale, touched down in Pico Rivera, Los Angeles County, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Thursday, causing significant damage but no injuries. The tornado, with wind speeds of about 85 mph, lasted approximately two minutes and traveled a mile-long path, damaging homes, cars, and snapping trees. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado after conducting a storm survey in the area, noting that such weather events, while rare, are not unheard of in the region during this time of year. Residents reported hearing loud swirling and whooshing sounds as the tornado moved through. The tornado's path extended over four blocks, affecting streets such as Loch Avon Dr, Holbrook St., and Glencannon Dr. Southern California Edison is working to restore power to the affected areas, and the National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions as the storm system moves out of Southern California.
