Climate Activists Disrupt Frankfurt Airport Operations

Frankfurt Airport faced significant disruptions on Thursday as climate activists from the Last Generation group glued themselves to runways, leading to the cancellation of around 270 flights. The protest was part of a broader European campaign to highlight the urgency of climate change and demand the end of fossil fuel use by 2030. Despite the severe disruption, flight operations resumed after a few hours, but passengers were advised to expect delays throughout the day. German authorities condemned the activists' actions and warned of severe penalties, including potential imprisonment. Similar protests occurred at other European airports, including Cologne/Bonn and London Heathrow.
