Guatemalan Worker Dies Trapped Industrial Oven Missouri Plant
A 38-year-old Guatemalan man identified as Nicolas Lopez Gomez, who was working under the alias Edward Avila, died after becoming trapped inside an industrial oven at the Gilster-Mary Lee Cereal Plant in Perryville, Missouri. Emergency responders, including police, paramedics, and firefighters, were called to the scene but were unable to rescue him before he was pronounced dead. Gomez was reportedly using a power washer on the machine from the outside before the incident, but it remains unclear how he ended up inside the oven. The Perry County Coroner's Office is working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which has launched an investigation into the accident to determine the circumstances. Gilster-Mary Lee Corporation, which operates multiple facilities in the Midwest, has not yet commented on the incident. Authorities continue to seek more information as the investigation progresses.
