Florida State Football Announces Coaching Changes

Florida State University (FSU) has announced a reshuffling of its coaching staff, promoting John Papuchis from defensive ends coach to linebackers coach while retaining his role as special teams coordinator. Head coach Mike Norvell expressed confidence in Papuchis, citing his extensive coaching experience and success in developing NFL talent. Alongside Papuchis, Ernie Sims has been appointed as the assistant linebackers coach, and Austin Tucker will serve as the assistant wide receivers coach. Despite a challenging 2-10 season, FSU's special teams were a highlight, with Papuchis overseeing the development of All-American specialists Alex Mastromanno and Ryan Fitzgerald. Over his five seasons, Papuchis has coached seven All-Americans and 11 All-ACC players, affirming his reputation in player development. The changes come as FSU prepares for a strategic shift in its defensive scheme under new defensive coordinator Tony White.
