HBO Renews 'Dune: Prophecy' for Season 2

The HBO series 'Dune: Prophecy,' a prequel set 10,000 years before Denis Villeneuve's 'Dune' films, has been renewed for a second season. The show, based on 'Sisterhood of Dune' by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, focuses on two Harkonnen sisters, played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams, who establish the Bene Gesserit. This renewal follows a successful first season that attracted 15 million viewers for its premiere episode on Max. Showrunner Alison Schapker expressed excitement about continuing the story, which aims to explore the origins of characters known as villains in the films. The series is co-produced with Legendary Television and features a diverse ensemble cast, including Bollywood star Tabu. The second season is anticipated amid other ongoing 'Dune' projects, such as 'Dune 3' and a survival game set on Arrakis.
