Two Men Arrested in Separate Fatal Hit-and-Runs in New York
Leonel Yas Pena, 24, has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed 70-year-old Henry "Hank" Brown in Rochester, New York. The crash occurred on June 14 when Pena, who had been drinking at a Monroe Avenue bar, struck Brown as he was crossing South Union Street and then fled the scene. Pena faces multiple felony charges including vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and two counts of driving while intoxicated. He has a history of three prior DWI convictions over the past decade, with the most recent in 2022 resulting in a conditional discharge and alcohol abuse program. Brown was a well-known local figure, having worked nearly 30 years as a doorman at Salinger’s Pub and was described as deeply loved by the community. Pena is currently held in Monroe County Jail awaiting arraignment.
