Woman Dies Six Days After Two-Vehicle Crash Near Inverness
A 50-year-old woman died six days after a two-vehicle crash on the A96 near Inverness involving a red Vauxhall Corsa that had been reported stolen earlier that day and a black Volvo XC60. The woman was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but succumbed to her injuries, while a dog traveling in the Corsa died at the scene. The passenger of the Volvo, a 74-year-old woman, remains in stable condition at the same hospital, and the Volvo's 74-year-old male driver was discharged after treatment. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. The road was closed for over ten hours during the investigation, and authorities emphasized their commitment to establishing the full details of the incident. Sergeant Ewan Calder expressed condolences to the family and urged the public to assist the inquiry by providing any relevant information.
