Israel Mandates Graphic Health Warnings on Tobacco Products

Israel's Ministry of Health has introduced draft regulations mandating graphic health warnings on smoking products, marking a significant step in public health efforts to deter smoking. These warnings will be applied to a range of products, including traditional and electronic cigarettes, hookahs, and chewing tobacco, combining graphic images with existing verbal warnings for the first time. The images will depict severe health consequences, such as decayed organs and the effects of secondhand smoke, with a particular focus on preventing youth addiction. Israel will be among the first countries globally to require a combined warning for electronic cigarettes. The initiative also includes referrals to quit-smoking services, reinforcing the government's commitment to reducing tobacco use. Health Minister Uriel Buso emphasized that these measures are critical in combating the tobacco epidemic and protecting future generations.
