Wednesday Drops 'Elderberry Wine,' Plots Festival Dates

Indie rock band Wednesday has released their first new single since 2023, 'Elderberry Wine,' with a music video directed by Spencer Kelly and filmed at The Bench in Greensboro, North Carolina. The song, led by Karly Hartzman and featuring MJ Lenderman’s guitar, uses the elderberry as a metaphor for how sweet things in life can become harmful without care, drawing inspiration from Hartzman’s sister’s experience with the fruit. Musically, the track blends country influences with emotional songwriting and pedal steel elements. Despite previously stepping back from touring, Lenderman joined the band for their late-night TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where they performed the new single. The band has received praise for the song’s lyrical depth and musical warmth. Wednesday is also scheduled to perform at upcoming festivals, including Project Pabst in Portland and Best Friends Forever in Las Vegas.
