Dane Paterson joins Middlesex for 2025 County Championship

Dane Paterson, the experienced South African pacer, has signed a contract with Middlesex Cricket for the first half of the 2025 County Championship season, comprising seven matches, four of which will be played at Lord's. This move aims to bolster his chances of being selected for the World Test Championship final against Australia on June 11. Paterson, 35, has a notable record, having taken 180 wickets at an impressive average of 23.25 during his time with Nottinghamshire, where he achieved seven five-wicket hauls. Middlesex's Director of Cricket, Alan Coleman, expressed confidence in Paterson's abilities to significantly enhance the team's pace attack. Paterson himself expressed excitement about joining Middlesex and contributing to the team's promotion efforts back to Division One. Other players, including Kyle Verreynne and Australian cricketers, are also signing with county teams as they prepare for the WTC final.
