Frankfurt Signs Ritsu Doan for €22M

Eintracht Frankfurt has officially signed Japanese winger Ritsu Doan from SC Freiburg for a flat fee of €22 million on a five-year contract. Doan turned down higher offers from Everton, Nottingham Forest, and a Saudi club, motivated by the chance to play in the Champions League with Frankfurt. The winger, who earned 10 goals and 8 assists last season at Freiburg, is expected to fill the gap left by Hugo Ekitike's transfer to Liverpool. Doan will receive a base salary of over €2.5 million, potentially rising to €5 million with bonuses. Frankfurt’s sporting director highlighted Doan's technical skills, speed, and international experience as key assets for the squad. The signing strengthens Frankfurt ahead of their Champions League return and follows the tradition of successful Japanese players at the club.
