He recalled the shock of receiving a terminal diagnosis with only six months to live, but emphasized that he never considered giving up, viewing the experience as an opportunity for reflection and reconnection with family. Kim, who returned to acting in 2022 after being declared cancer-free in 2019, attributed his recovery to the overwhelming support and prayers from fans and loved ones. He expressed gratitude for the strength he derived from this support, stating that it played a significant role in his healing process. The actor, who has been in a long-term relationship with actress Shin Min Ah, shared that he has abstained from alcohol since his treatment, opting instead for non-alcoholic beer during the show.
