Multiple Deliberate 5G Mast Fires Under Investigation in Belfast

Police in Belfast are investigating a deliberate fire attack on a 5G mast located in the Springbank Industrial Estate in Dunmurry. This incident is the latest in a series of 14 arson attacks on 5G masts across west Belfast since January 2023, which have caused significant network disruptions. Authorities, including the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, responded promptly to extinguish the blaze. Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey condemned the attacks, emphasizing the detrimental impact on mobile coverage and urging the public to assist law enforcement by providing information. The police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation. These attacks have raised concerns about mobile signal reliability in the area, with a recent survey finding that 87% of local respondents rated their phone signal as poor or very poor.
