Stokes and Buttler Sign New ECB Contracts

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler have both signed new two-year central contracts with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), securing their commitment to lead the England teams through crucial upcoming tournaments, including the Ashes series. Stokes, who previously had a one-year deal, has now committed until at least 2026, while Buttler has extended his contract from one to two years. The ECB announced a total of 29 central contracts, comprising seven two-year deals, 19 annual contracts, and three development contracts for emerging players. Jamie Smith has secured a two-year contract as England's primary Test wicketkeeper, alongside first-time signings for Shoaib Bashir, Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Olly Stone, who received one-year deals. Gus Atkinson has also extended his contract until 2026, while established players like Joe Root and Jack Leach continue under existing arrangements. Rob Key, managing director of England men's cricket, emphasized the depth of talent within the team, which is reflected in the new contracts awarded.
