US Regions Provide Shelters Amid Winter Storms

In response to severe winter weather, numerous regions across the United States are providing shelters and warming centers for homeless individuals and those lacking adequate heating. In Norfolk, the Salvation Army Men's Hope Center has extended its hours and prepared extra sleeping accommodations, while the Water's Edge warming center in Lake Charles and the Baymont Inn & Suites in Grand Haven are offering shelter and reduced rates, respectively. In Louisville, Exodus Family Ministries is operating a church-based warming center with city funding, and Lockport City Hall is supplementing the Salvation Army's efforts by providing additional warming hours. Chicago's Salvation Army Harbor Light facility and the Erie City Mission have also opened their doors to accommodate those in need, with volunteers providing meals and supplies. Across Kankakee County, various public buildings serve as warming centers, ensuring that residents have access to warm spaces during extreme temperatures.
