Fofana to Goztepe

Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has completed a loan move to Turkish club Goztepe after a previous transfer to AEK Athens fell through. The 21-year-old Ivorian is on a season-long loan that includes a £20 million purchase option and a January recall clause for Chelsea. Fofana has struggled for playing time at Chelsea, making only four appearances since his arrival from Molde in January 2023, and has spent previous loan spells at Union Berlin and Burnley. His departure marks the 41st player to leave Chelsea this summer as the club seeks to trim its oversized squad under new manager Enzo Maresca. Despite his limited time on the pitch, Chelsea has been active in the transfer market, bringing in several new players while offloading both experienced and emerging talents. Fofana's move aims to provide him with more opportunities to develop his game in Turkey.
