Rajnath Singh's Strategic Visit to Russia

India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a three-day visit to Russia to strengthen the military partnership between the two nations, despite India's ongoing shift towards Western arms suppliers. The visit includes the commissioning of the Russian-manufactured stealth warship INS Tushil, which will enhance India's naval capabilities in the Indian Ocean. Singh will co-chair the 21st meeting of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation with his counterpart Andrey Belousov, where they will discuss defense collaboration and the delivery of the remaining S-400 air defense systems. The trip highlights India's strategic balancing act of maintaining ties with Russia while diversifying its defense imports. Singh's visit follows a similar diplomatic effort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance bilateral defense ties with Russia earlier this year.
