Human Remains Found Near Lenoir Mall, Investigation Ongoing

On January 21, human remains were discovered in a wooded area behind a storage facility at 1023 Morganton Boulevard in Lenoir, North Carolina. Lenoir Police, assisted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, are conducting an investigation, which includes a thorough search of the area and an autopsy along with DNA analysis to identify the deceased and determine the cause of death. As of January 22, the identity of the remains has not been released, and investigators believe the victim may have been at the location for some time. Police are actively seeking information from the public to aid in the investigation. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Lenoir Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
