Pineville Mayor Scott Madon has won the election for Kentucky's 29th Senate District, securing 35.2% of the vote in a unique write-in campaign following the death of long-time Senator Johnnie Turner. Madon's victory came after just 11 days of campaigning, with significant support from the state Republican Party and endorsements from Turner's family and key political figures. The election featured 11 write-in candidates, as the only other candidate on the ballot withdrew shortly before the election. Madon plans to focus on infrastructure improvements in his new district, aiming to replicate his previous successes as mayor. His substantial victory margins in Bell and Harlan counties, where he garnered 79% and 61% of the votes respectively, underscored his local popularity.
