White Sox Option Vaughn, Elko as Veterans Return

The Chicago White Sox have optioned struggling first baseman Andrew Vaughn and rookie Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte as veterans Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman return from the injured list. Vaughn, a former No. 3 overall draft pick, has struggled with a .189 batting average and five home runs in 48 games, fueling fan frustration and uncertainty about his future with the team. Elko, who hit three home runs but managed only a .161 average in his first 10 major league games, was also sent back down. Benintendi and Tauchman are expected to strengthen the lineup with their veteran experience. The roster moves are part of the team's efforts to address inconsistent offensive production amid injuries and underperformance. General manager Chris Getz said Vaughn's demotion is intended to give him a chance to reset and adjust in a less pressured setting.
