Patrice Motsepe Seeks Re-election as CAF President

Patrice Motsepe, the current president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has announced his intention to seek re-election in March 2025, following requests from various stakeholders. Elected unopposed in 2021, Motsepe has focused on improving governance and financial transparency within CAF, which has faced financial scandals in the past. His administration has increased financial support for member associations, significantly boosting their development activities. No other candidates have declared for the presidency yet, although the nomination deadline is four months before the elections. Motsepe, a billionaire and owner of Mamelodi Sundowns, is recognized for his positive influence on African football since taking office. He is the seventh president of CAF since its establishment in 1956.
