TransPennine Express installs defibrillators on 51 trains

TransPennine Express (TPE) is set to install defibrillators on 51 of its 185 trains by the end of March, enhancing passenger safety in emergency situations. The devices will be accessible to both staff and passengers and will be located in an emergency equipment cupboard on the trains. Bushra Khan, TPE's head of engineering, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating it will help ensure that travelers feel safe and confident knowing help is available in emergencies. The defibrillators, which include features like step-by-step spoken instructions, were purchased from the British Heart Foundation and will be installed by Siemens Mobility. This effort is part of a broader commitment to improve safety in public transport systems. The rollout reflects a growing recognition of the need for lifesaving equipment in various public spaces.
