RSF Attacks Kill 18 Civilians, Injure 31 in North Kordofan Sudan

Sudan is experiencing intensified violence as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continue brutal attacks in North Kordofan State and Darfur. At least 18 civilians, including children, were killed and 31 injured in RSF assaults on villages near Bara and Shaq Al-Noum, with the Sudanese Doctors Network condemning these actions as violations of humanitarian norms. The RSF also launched a major offensive on el-Fasher, Darfur's last military-held city, briefly capturing key sites such as the cattle market and Shalla prison before being pushed back by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). Fighting around strategic locations like Bara and Umm Sumayma has escalated since June, with RSF attempting to seize control and SAF resisting. This ongoing conflict between the RSF and SAF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced millions, creating one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
