Two Officers Shot, Suspect Killed in New Haven

During a police operation on Wednesday morning in New Haven, two officers from West Haven were shot while attempting to execute a search warrant at an apartment building on Grand Avenue. The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspect involved was also shot and killed during the exchange of gunfire. New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson detailed that a standoff ensued, with three other individuals, including an 8-year-old girl, present in the apartment at the time. Mayor Justin Elicker expressed relief that the individuals inside the apartment were unharmed despite the frightening situation. The incident prompted an investigation by the state Office of the Inspector General to assess the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities confirmed a collaborative effort from multiple police departments was involved in the operation.
