Ted Baker to Close All 31 Stores

Ted Baker, a once-prominent fashion brand, will shut its remaining 31 stores in the UK and Ireland by the end of Tuesday, August 20, resulting in over 500 job losses. This follows the March collapse of its UK operations, No Ordinary Designer Label (NODL), into administration. Authentic Brands Group, which owns Ted Baker’s intellectual property, cited financial difficulties exacerbated by a problematic partnership with Dutch company AARC Group and significant arrears. Meanwhile, CTD Tiles will close 56 branches and cut 268 jobs after falling into insolvency, although competitor Topps has acquired some of its assets. These closures reflect broader challenges in the retail sector, exacerbated by economic downturns and weakened consumer demand post-pandemic. The closures mark the end of Ted Baker's presence on high streets, a brand known for its distinctive patterns and florals since its founding in 1988.
