Chandan Verma Arrested in Amethi Family Murders

Chandan Verma, 26, has been arrested for the brutal murder of a Dalit schoolteacher, his wife, and their two daughters in Amethi on October 3. Following a police encounter during a weapon recovery operation, Verma was injured after he allegedly grabbed a police officer's gun and opened fire, prompting police to shoot him in self-defense. Verma confessed that he had been in an extramarital affair with the teacher's wife, Poonam Bharti, leading to a dispute that resulted in her filing a complaint against him. Frustrated by this legal action, he planned and executed the murder, firing ten rounds at the family before attempting to flee to Delhi.
