The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced its twelve finalists for 2024, including first-time nominees such as balloons, trampolines, and Apples to Apples, alongside perennial favorites like My Little Pony and Transformers. Voting will take place from September 18 to 25, with the public's top three picks creating a 'Player's Choice' ballot that will count alongside votes from a panel of twenty-two historians and toy experts. Christopher Bensch, the Hall's curator, emphasized the diverse range of play represented by this year's nominees, which also include the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Phase 10, and remote-controlled vehicles. The Hall of Fame has recognized over 80 toys since its inception in 1998, with last year's inductees including baseball cards and Cabbage Patch Kids. The final inductees will be announced in November. The Hall is located at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York.
