Cam Ward Named Semifinalist for Maxwell Award
Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward has been named a semifinalist for both the 2024 Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, leading the nation with 3,494 passing yards and 32 touchdowns this season. He has achieved at least 300 passing yards and three total touchdowns in nine out of ten games, becoming the first Miami player to have seven consecutive 300-yard games. Ward's performance has propelled Miami to the top of several national offensive rankings, including scoring and total offense. In addition, North Carolina's Omarion Hampton and Iowa's Kaleb Johnson have also been recognized as semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, with Hampton achieving over 100 rushing yards in eight of nine games, while Johnson set a school record with 21 total touchdowns this season. Voting for the semifinalists will close on November 23, with finalists to be announced on November 26 and the award presented on December 12. Each of these players represents a strong contender in a competitive field of collegiate athletes.
