Sabalenka Secures Year-End No. 1 Ranking

Aryna Sabalenka has secured the year-end World No. 1 ranking for the 2024 season, following Coco Gauff's victory over Iga Swiatek at the WTA Finals. Sabalenka's strong performance, including wins over Zheng Qinwen and Jasmine Paolini, has solidified her position, marking her as the third different year-end World No. 1 in the past six years. Her success this year includes winning two Grand Slam titles and two WTA 1000 titles, while Iga Swiatek won four WTA 1000 titles but fell short of retaining her top spot. Last year, Sabalenka was part of a player rebellion demanding better conditions and pay on the WTA tour, which has led to some changes, though full pay equity is not expected until 2027. Sabalenka's victory at the WTA Finals semifinals is also her third consecutive advancement to this stage and highlights her dominance on the tour this year.
