Joshua Zinberg Charged in Upper West Side Stabbing
Joshua Zinberg, 25, was arrested by the NYPD after his mother identified him from surveillance footage as the suspect in a random slashing attack on a Danish tourist on the Upper West Side of New York City. Zinberg is charged with second-degree attempted murder, assault, and weapon possession following the incident where the 55-year-old victim sustained facial injuries. In addition to this attack, Zinberg has a previous charge of harassment for threatening a former co-worker. The attack occurred in a neighborhood considered safe, leading to concerns among residents, although overall crime in the city has reportedly decreased. Zinberg displayed erratic behavior upon arrest, spitting at reporters and making nonsensical rants. The incident follows another violent spree in the city involving a separate suspect, highlighting ongoing concerns about random acts of violence.
