Samsung Launches Galaxy XR Headset with Integrated Google Gemini AI at $1799

Samsung has launched the Galaxy XR, its first AI-native headset built on the new Android XR platform developed in partnership with Google and Qualcomm. This headset integrates Google's Gemini AI, enabling real-time assistance through voice, vision, and gestures, which allows users to interact naturally with their environment and digital content. The Galaxy XR features high-end specifications, including a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, a 3,552 x 3,840 Micro-OLED display, multiple cameras for 3D capture and tracking, and advanced audio capabilities. Designed for comfort and extended use, the device includes a lightweight frame, detachable light shield, and a separate battery pack for balanced weight distribution and up to 2.5 hours of battery life. Positioned as a more affordable alternative to Apple's Vision Pro, the Galaxy XR aims to redefine mixed reality experiences by supporting existing Android apps and enabling developers to create new XR applications using open standards like OpenXR, WebXR, and Unity.
