Antisemitism Surges Globally Since October 7 2023 Hamas Attack
Two years after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, antisemitism has surged globally, with incidents of violence, harassment, and vandalism escalating rather than declining. The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) reported over 13,000 antisemitic incidents worldwide between October 2023 and October 2025, with 2024 seeing double the incidents of the previous year, especially on U.S. university campuses. In the UK, religious hate crimes, particularly against Jewish people, more than doubled in the year ending March 2024, with sharp increases recorded by major police forces and a deadly attack at a Manchester synagogue highlighting the growing threat. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer acknowledged the rise in antisemitism domestically, calling it a hatred that is resurging and demanding it be defeated, though Israel criticized the UK government for insufficient action. The surge in antisemitic and anti-Israeli attacks reflects a broader global crisis linked to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, with Jewish communities worldwide facing unprecedented threats to their safety and freedom. Experts warn this is not just a Jewish issue but a moral test for all societies to stand against hatred and protect democratic values.
