Sex Offender Charged After Target Fitting Room Incident

Gregory Mattos, a 37-year-old registered sex offender from Mashpee, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with photographing an unsuspecting nude person after allegedly recording a woman with his cellphone while she was changing in a Target fitting room in Wareham on June 9. The victim reported seeing Mattos holding his phone over her stall door, and store surveillance footage showed him leaving on a moped. Police quickly located and arrested Mattos on Main Street without incident. Authorities noted his history of similar offenses, including a previous upskirting case at the same shopping plaza and failing to register as a sex offender. He was released on cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Wareham District Court. The case comes amid a rise in video voyeurism incidents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, raising concerns about privacy and repeat offenders.
