PWHL fines Montreal Victoire captain Poulin $250 for charging

Montreal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin has been fined $250 by the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) for a charging penalty against New York Sirens forward Jade Downie-Landry during a recent match. The incident occurred in the third period when Poulin delivered a significant hit, resulting in a five-minute major penalty but no game misconduct, as Downie-Landry did not sustain any head or face injuries. Despite the fine, Poulin continued her strong performance, scoring twice in the game and leading the league with 10 goals this season. This is the first major penalty and fine in Poulin's PWHL career, and the Victoire currently holds first place in the league standings. The league's Player Safety Committee reviewed the incident and determined the fine was appropriate. The PWHL continues its season with the next games scheduled for February 11.
