Indiana State Trooper Charged with Theft, Fraud, Obstruction
Indiana State Trooper Andrew G. Kocsis, 39, has been charged with Level 6 felony theft, Level 6 felony obstruction of justice, and Class A misdemeanor fraud following a lengthy investigation that began in mid-October 2024. The charges stem from allegations of theft reported by an undisclosed victim, with probable cause found by authorities. Kocsis, who has served since 2008 and was most recently assigned to the Indiana State Police General Headquarters in Indianapolis, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings and an internal investigation. Special Prosecutor James D. Luttrull filed the charges in St. Joseph County Superior Court, where Kocsis is scheduled for an initial hearing on July 8, 2025. Details regarding the specific nature of the allegations have not been publicly disclosed, and Kocsis' attorney has not yet commented on the charges. The investigation and legal process are ongoing.
