Nintendo Confirms Zelda Movie Cast and Approach

Nintendo has officially cast Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link in the live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, set to premiere on May 7, 2027. Bragason is known for 'Renegade Nell' and 'Three Girls,' while Ainsworth voiced Pinocchio in Disney's 2022 remake and appeared in 'The Haunting of Bly Manor.' Wes Ball will direct the film, with production by Nintendo and Sony Pictures, and Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad as producers. The casting has sparked discussion online, particularly after fan-favorite Hunter Schafer was not cast as Zelda despite strong support. Nintendo stated that selecting lesser-known actors aims to help audiences see the iconic characters rather than the actors' previous work.
