Juvenile Dies in Mount Airy Flood Drain Tragedy
A juvenile boy died after being swept into a drainage pipe during flash flooding in Mount Airy, Maryland, on Thursday evening. The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Watersville Road, where the boy, who lived in a nearby apartment complex, was playing with other children when water from a stormwater pond surged through the area. Despite rescue attempts by local police, fire departments, and bystanders, the operation became a recovery, and the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the exact age of the child. The Mount Airy Police Department has initiated a death investigation into the incident. Local officials expressed condolences to the victim's family and praised first responders' dedication.
