Bus Crash at Port Authority Injures 13
A collision involving two or three NJ Transit buses occurred around 6:15 a.m. on July 2 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan, injuring 12 to 13 people, none with life-threatening injuries. All those hurt were transported to local hospitals, with one individual requiring extrication for moderate injuries. The crash, possibly caused by a medical emergency experienced by one of the drivers, led to temporary closure of the terminal and express bus lane ramp during the morning rush hour, causing major commuter delays. NJ Transit buses were diverted to Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station, and Hoboken Terminal, and tickets were cross-honored on NJ Transit rail, PATH, and NY Waterway services. The terminal and affected ramps reopened later in the morning, though residual delays continued along key routes including the Lincoln Tunnel. Authorities are investigating the incident, reviewing driver records and bus logs.
