Man Sentenced for Armed Kidnapping and Gun Theft

Dontrell Nance, 25, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for kidnapping a store manager and stealing 123 guns from a Benton Harbor Dunham's Sports store. Nance, along with his brother Darnell Bishop, kidnapped the manager at gunpoint, forced him to provide the store's alarm code, and stole the guns using two coolers. Both men pleaded guilty to the charges, with Nance doing so in April and Bishop scheduled for sentencing on October 25. The stolen firearms, which had a potential street value exceeding $100,000, were eventually recovered. The incident, which occurred in November 2023, highlighted the collaboration among local and federal law enforcement agencies, which was crucial in swiftly resolving the case.
