John Goodman Suffers Emergency Hip Surgery Onset Tom Cruise Movie UK
John Goodman, 73, suffered a serious on-set injury while filming an untitled action-adventure comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and starring Tom Cruise, which has caused a brief production delay but no recasting. During a scene blocked over more than a week, Goodman slipped while wearing stocking feet and fell, fracturing his hip, which required emergency surgery the following day at the Cleveland Clinic in London. Despite being sidelined for about a month and describing the recovery period as mentally challenging, Goodman has since resumed work on the film, which also features Jesse Plemons and Riz Ahmed, and is scheduled for release in October 2026. Goodman praised the quick response and care from the on-set doctor and medical team, which was crucial to his recovery. The incident did not affect his role in the film, and the cast and crew adapted by working on other scenes during his recuperation. Goodman’s injury highlights the risks actors face during intense filming schedules and the importance of prompt medical attention on set.
