Farmer Aids Rescue of Stranded Driver

Emergency services responded to two separate vehicle incidents involving people trapped in cars. In Ottawa, firefighters extricated a person trapped in a vehicle found in a ditch during rush hour, completing the rescue by 5:25 p.m. Meanwhile, in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, a man in his 60s, believed to have dementia, was rescued after being stranded in his car for approximately three hours near a water-filled ditch. A local farmer spotted the man and alerted emergency services, who successfully assisted him from the vehicle. The man was then taken to the hospital for treatment, and his family was notified. Cambridgeshire Police are promoting the Herbert Protocol to help locate missing individuals with dementia.
