Harland & Wolff has announced the immediate cessation of operations for its new ferry service, Scilly Ferries, which was set to connect Penzance and the Isles of Scilly. Russell Downs, interim executive chair of Harland & Wolff, expressed regret over the impact this decision will have on the community and confirmed that the Atlantic Wolff vessel will be returned to its manufacturer in the Netherlands. Despite the closure of Scilly Ferries, Harland & Wolff Marine Services will continue its freight operations unaffected. The company cited the need to refocus on core business activities as the driving reason behind this move.
